Background & Rationale:
Wildfires are one of the major causes of rapid forest destruction and severe ecosystem imbalance. Each wildfire damages young trees and forest regeneration, reducing opportunities for long-term forest growth. In addition, wildfires contribute to air pollution and dust haze, which negatively affect public health. Therefore, wildfire monitoring and prevention efforts by officers and volunteers from multiple sectors are essential in reducing environmental damage and protecting communities.
Objectives:
- To encourage and support the morale of community leaders, volunteers, citizens, and wildfire prevention officers
- To raise public awareness regarding wildfire smoke and air pollution issues
Key Targets
Wildfire prevention and control officers receiving donation support
Area of Implementation
Wildfire monitoring points in Chiang Mai Province
Key Activities
- Set up salad sharing booths and donation points at shopping malls
- Collect and donate all contributions to wildfire prevention officers
