Background & Rationale:
Ban Dok Kham, Nam Phrae Subdistrict, Phrao District, Chiang Mai Province, cultivates rice using organic farming practices. Natural fertilizers are used, including bat guano collected once a year from Wat Tham Dok Kham and golden apple snails, which are converted into organic fertilizer. The area is an important upstream watershed with fertile soil enriched by natural sediment deposits. These natural conditions contribute to the distinctive aroma and quality of the rice. As a result, the rice produced by farmers in Nam Phrae Subdistrict is organically grown using naturally occurring organic matter.
